The term anterior cingulate area (ACA) refers to a cortical area defined by cytoarchitecture in the rodent.. It is located on the medial surface of the cerebral hemisphere (CHS). It consists of two subareas, dorsal part of the anterior cingulate area (ACAd) and ventral part of the anterior cingulate area (ACAv) ( Swanson-2004 ).
