The term area 19 of Brodmann (human) refers to a subdivision of the cytoarchitecturally defined occipital region of cerebral cortex. In the human it is located in parts of the lingual gyrus, the cuneus, the middle occipital gyrus and the superior occipital gyrus of the occipital lobe where it is bounded approximately by the parieto-occipital sulcus. Cytoarchitecturally it is bounded on one side by the area 18 of Brodmann (human) which it surrounds. Rostrally it is bounded by the area 39 of Brodmann and the area 37 of Brodmann (human) ( Brodmann-1909 ).
