This chapter provides the rationale for NeuroNames, template atlases and BrainInfo. It contains a comprehensive list of NeuroNames default terms for the structures represented in BrainInfo's Template Atlas of the macaque brain together with the terms that refer to morphologically homologous structures in two comprehensive atlases of the rat brain (Paxinos-86 and Swanson-92).
